KUALA LUMPUR: Jalan Slim River-Behrang Hulu in Perak has been closed to the public due to the collapsed Slim Village bridge following a downpour yesterday.
Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the state Public Works Department (PWD) would conduct an investigation at the affected area and find an alternative route to ease the traffic.
"I have received information on the burst dam that left 109 victims stranded at four locations, including two recreational areas in Muallim district.
"According to the report from the Perak PWD, a bridge on state road A121 Jalan Slim River-Behrang Ulu had collapsed due to the flood," he said in a posting on Facebook.
He said he had also instructed the department to promptly manage the traffic including putting up road signages at the affected route.
This is to ensure the safety of motorists and other road users, he said.
"I urge all road users, including residents in the area to always adhere to the directives issued by the authorities and avoid using the affected road."
