KUALA LUMPUR: Barisan Nasional's lynchpin party, Umno, appears to have created an upset, as unofficial results suggest the party is likely to win the Nenggiri state seat by-election in Kelantan.
Muafakat Nasional chairman and Pas member Tan Sri Annuar Musa hinted at Perikatan Nasional's defeat when he said unofficial result showed BN has won Nenggiri with a simple majority.
"Let us congratulate the winner (of the by-election). Best of luck to carry out the responsibility entrusted to you.
"The people in Nenggiri have made their decision and we should respect such a decision," he said in a post on his Facebook page.
Umno secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said BN is leading with a majority of 2,802 votes in Nenggiri.
Asyraf, in a post on his Facebook page, said BN received 6,911 votes against PN who obtained 4,109 votes.
