MTRK lauds ban of entertainment and loud noise on Thursday night and Friday in Kelantan

KOTA BARU: Kelantan People's Action Council (MTRK) has lauded the move to ban all forms of entertainment from being held or loud noises from being heard in the state on Thursday night.

Its president, Aiman Yusri Mohd Yusof, said MTRK also respects the decision and the guidelines issued by the state government regarding the issue.

"MTRK totally agrees with the move because it's not nice for loud noise to be heard on Thursday night.

"For us, Thursday night and Friday are times when many of us need a good rest, especially those who have been working non-stop for five days.

"Having entertainment surrounding our homes will disturb the peace of our family," he said.

It was reported on Wednesday that the Kelantan government has banned all forms of entertainment from being held, or loud noise from being heard, in the state on Thursday night.

State Local Government, Housing, Health and Environment Committee chairman Hilmi Abdullah said the ban is provided in the 1998 Control of Entertainment and Places of Entertainment Enactment.

"The ban is apt, encouraging Muslims to increase their acts of worship from Thursday after the Asar prayer until Friday evening," he added.

He said the ban would be enforced due to several cases of regulations being breached, with the most recent involving an event organiser testing the public address system at a premises near a mosque.
