Family searching for missing 50-year-old woman

KUALA LUMPUR: A family in Kerteh, Terengganu, is worried for the safety of Salina Abdullah, 50,who hasn't returned home since Monday afternoon.

She departed in the family's white Perodua Alza with license plate number W7115U around 4pm and has not been reachable since, according to her eldest daughter, 29-year-old Maisarah Zailan.

Maisarah told The NST that her mother suffers from diabetes and moderate depression, and it's unusual for her to venture out of the house alone.

"She's on medication for both conditions, but she hasn't been taking it. Typically, if she goes anywhere, she would take one of my younger siblings with her," Maisarah said.

"But yesterday, my sister was napping, which I think is why she decided to go out alone. We've searched all the usual places she frequents, the shops she normally visits, but she's nowhere to be found."

Maisarah added that her mother often seeks solace by the beach when feeling unwell, but even that proved fruitless when she checked there.

Making the situation worse, Salina does not use a mobile phone, making it challenging for the family to track her down.

"I've posted about my missing mom in various WhatsApp groups and filed a report with the Ketengah Jaya police station this afternoon, seeking their assistance," Maisarah said.

"Thus far, we haven't received any updates from them, but I've received several messages from people who claim to have spotted her car in different locations."

Maisarah, who was in Dungun following up on a caller's tip, urged anyone with information on Salina's whereabouts or the car to contact the police or the family at 019-3384241.
