KUALA LUMPUR: The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry is actively urging oil companies to accelerate the issuance of fleet cards to eligible logistics vehicle owners approved under the Subsidised Diesel Control System (SKDS) programme.
Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said that immediate approval could be granted at the ministry level if all required documents were complete, leveraging their integrated system with the Road Transport Department.
Acknowledging existing issues with fleet card issuance by oil companies, he said, "We are in active discussions with five oil companies to address these challenges."
"In addition to simplifying the reimbursement process for those awaiting fleet cards, which is being facilitated by the Finance Ministry, we have also encouraged oil companies to utilise cash cards as an interim measure.
"We remain committed to collaborating closely with these companies to expedite the issuance of fleet cards," he said in response to a supplementary question from Khoo Poay Tiong (PH-Kota Melaka) in Dewan Rakyat today.
Khoo raised concerns regarding the delayed issuance of fleet cards, with some being approved in March and April, despite the prompt approvals given by the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry.
Under the SKDS, 33 types of public transportation and goods vehicles continue to benefit from subsidised diesel via fleet cards.
The Finance Ministry had announced on June 12 that logistics vehicle owners awaiting fleet cards could apply for reimbursements starting July 1.
The implementation of rationalised diesel subsidies in the peninsula commenced on June 10, fixing diesel prices at RM3.35 per litre.
