Police arrest two men in connection with break-in at Selangor FC defender's house

SHAH ALAM: Police have arrested two men in connection with the break-in of Selangor FC defender Ahmad Khuzaimi Piee's house at Section U12 recently.

The suspects have been involved in a string of house break-ins in four states since early this year.

Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan reassured the public that the case has no connection to any of the other cases involving football players.

"We received the report from the complainant that his house was broken into at around 9pm on May 22.

"He claimed that he was out training at the time and found that the house front and back doors were open when he got home. He claimed that his motorcycle was missing along with four sling bags and a passport," he told reporters on Tuesday.

He said based on CCTV footage from the neighbourhood security-post, police believe the suspects had entered the area in an MPV.

"One of the suspects was also seen riding off with the motorcycle.

"The Selangor Crime Investigation Department (CID) D4 worked together with Terengganu CID D4 (intelligence/ operations/crime records) unit and Shah Alam D4 and managed to track and arrest two suspects, age 28 and 33, along Jalan Kuala Terengganu- Kuantan near Kampung Alur Tuman, Marang on June 26," he said, adding that the suspects have been connected to at least nine cases in Terengganu (three cases), Selangor(two cases), Pahang (two cases) and Melaka(two cases).

Hussein said police seized an assortment of items worth RM55,000, including 17 bags of various sizes, seven mobile phones, a motorcycle key, two keys for a Proton car, 17 watches, five rings, a laptop, a knife, four walkie talkies, two fake license plates, an Ipad, motorcycle components and a Yamaha motorcycle.

"We also seized tools believed to be used to break into houses in the vehicle the suspects were arrested in," he said, adding that the suspects have been remanded to assist with further investigations.

It was reported that Ahmad Khuzaimi lost his Yamaha motorcycle and other belongings after thieves broke into his house yesterday evening.

According to a police report sighted by the New Straits Times, the incident was believed to have happened when Khuzaimi left his house at about 2pm to attend a training session.

Khuzaimi, in the report, said he found the front and back gates of his house open when he returned home at about 9pm.

The incident which came about three weeks after Selangor FC winger Faisal Halim suffered an acid attack had many questioning if the two cases were connected.
