King prays for Malaysian athletes' success in Olympics, Paralympics

KUALA LUMPUR: His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia has given words of encouragement to the country's contingents to the 2024 Paris Olympics and Paralympics during a send-off ceremony here today.

Sultan Ibrahim urged Malaysians to pray for the athletes' success so they could make the country proud in these two prestigious games on the world stage.

"I want to wish success for all our country's athletes who will be competing in the 2024 Olympic Games.

"Let's pray together that the athletes who are representing our country at the Olympics and Paralympics will achieve excellence," he said via the Royal Press Office (RPO).

Earlier, Sultan Ibrahim attended the handing over of the Jalur Gemilang ceremony for the Malaysian contingent at Istana Negara here today.

Also present were Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh; Olympic Council of Malaysia president Tan Sri Mohamad Norza Zakaria; and Paralympic Council Malaysia president Datuk Seri Megat D Shariman.

Also present were Youth and Sports Ministry secretary-general Dr Nagulendran Kangayatkarasu; Olympics contingent chef de mission Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin and Paralympics contingent chef de mission Datuk Subramaniam Raman Nair.

So far, there are 25 national athletes in Malaysia's contingent to the 2024 Paris Olympics and another 20 national athletes in the Paralympics.

The 2024 Paris Olympics is from July 26 until Aug 11 while the Paralympics are from Aug 28 until Sept 8.
