Bersatu MP reiterates call for Dewan Rakyat to debate BlackRock issue

KUALA LUMPUR: An opposition member of Parliament has called for the BlackRock issue to be debated in the Dewan Rakyat

At the press conference, Machang MP, Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal voiced dissatisfaction with Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul's decision to reject his emergency motion for a debate on the matter.

Wan Ahmad Fayhsal said he wanted a debate as he was not satisfied with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's explanation on the issue in Parliament today.

Earlier, Anwar stressed that there wasno sale of Malaysia Airport Holdings Bhd (MAHB) to foreign companies.

He also said the issue of MAHB sale to foreign companies was not an issue as the matter did not arise.

Wan Ahamd Fayhsal claimed Anwar's explanation did not address the opposition's concerns surrounding sensitive airport data.

He also said there were "moral implications" related to the sale owing to BlackRock's alleged involvement ongoing Israel-Gaza conflict, which has led to the death of over 37,000 Palestinians, many of whom are women and children.

"UN High Commissioner's Office for Human Rights, recently listed BlackRock among investors with direct control over companies producing weapons used against Palestinians," he claimed.
