HULU SELANGOR: A 62-year-old woman and her granddaughter who were feared lost in Bukit Buluh Telur, Kuala Kubu Baharu, here, yesterday, were safely rescued today.
The two were found by the search and rescue team at about 9.30am, about an hour after the search and rescue operation resumed today.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations, Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar earlier said the operation to find the two was resumed at 8am this morning.
"A team of six members from the Kuala Kubu Baharu Fire and Rescue Station was mobilised in this operation and assisted by the police, Civil Defense Force (APM) and Orang Asli residents.
"Based on the next of kin's information, the victim's location was successfully traced through a phone call, about an hour from the first 'check point', which was at the end of the motor route," he said in a statement today.
Yesterday, the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department received a call regarding the incident at 3.12pm before a team of eight firemen from the Kuala Kubu Baharu station was dispatched to the location, which was then postponed at 7.20pm last night.
According to initial reports, the grandmother and her granddaughter were believed to be on their way to a durian orchard when the elderly woman contacted her eldest son at about noon yesterday to inform them that they had lost their way.
The woman's son then made a missing person's report at 3pm.
