Man, grandnephew killed in Kuala Nerus accident

KUALA NERUS: A 50-year-old man and his grandnephew died when the car they were traveling in skidded and crashed into a tree and an iron-cast water engine pump here this morning.

Noh and his Nik Muhammad Syahidan Rosli, 20, succumbed to their injuries and died on the spot during the accident which took place in Jalan Kuala Terengganu - Kota Baru, Kampung Mengabang Panjang here.

Kuala Terengganu district police chief Assistant Commissioner Azli Mohd Noor stated that preliminary investigations revealed the two victims were returning home to Jerteh from Batu Rakit when the tragedy occurred at 2.20am

Samsul Bahri, who was behind the wheel, was believed to have lost control of the car before the vehicle skidded and crashed into the tree and the water engine pump by the roadside.

"Both the driver and his passenger died at the scene of the accident.

"The bodies of the victims have been transferred to the forensic unit at Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital in Kuala Terengganu for further action," he said.
