KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) today unveiled a seven-second video clip showing the moments leading up to the collision and crash of the Maritime Operation Helicopter (HOM-AW139) and Eurocopter Fennec at the RMN Base in Lumut on April 23.
The video, captured by an RMN camera, was shared with local media during the disclosure event for the final report of the crash investigation.
In the clip, seven helicopters are seen performing a formation flight as part of the 90th RMN Anniversary celebrations.
Navy chief Admiral Tan Sri Abdul Rahman Ayob said the video revealed the point of impact between the two aircraft.
"On the actual day, we had seven helicopters involved in the flypast formation, and I believe everyone knows that the ones involved in the crash were the HOM AW139 and Fennec.
"From the available data, you can see the differences on both the left and right sides of the formation," he said during a press conference today.
Two helicopters, an AugustaWestland AW139 HOM and a Eurocopter Fennec, had collided during a mid-air manouevre during a flypast training for the Navy's 90th anniversary celebrations.
There were no survivors in the tragedy.
