KUALA LUMPUR: The parents of the murdered 15-year-old girl in Banting urged the police to swiftly complete their investigation and bring her killers to justice.
According to reports from China Press, the victim was cremated yesterday, with over 30 relatives and friends attending her funeral.
The family arrived at Jing An Memorial Village yesterday morning, where relatives gathered in front of the victim's memorial for a group photo.
In a brief interview with the media, the victim's father, Yap Eng You, expressed his grief over the cruel manner in which his daughter's body was discarded.
"She will no longer be by our side. Thinking about how coming home will always feel incomplete makes my heart ache," he said, lowering his head in sorrow.
The victim's mother, Cheng Lian Yu, reiterated her demand for the police to ensure the murderers face harsh punishment.
"They (the suspects) took my daughter's precious life. I hope they will face severe punishment."
After the funeral ceremony, the victim's younger sister carried the urn containing her ashes to the Tien Ning Columbarium, 4km from the memorial hall, where she was interred.
Earlier reports stated that three members of a family suspected of involvement in the murder of the girl have been remanded for another five days.
The victim's identity was confirmed by police through a DNA test conducted on her decomposed body, which was found on Dec 28 in Sungai Changgang, Banting.
