KUALA LUMPUR: Police have obtained a remand order for the three people arrested in connection with the discovery of a decomposed body, believed to be that of a 15-year-old girl, who was reported missing on Dec 19.

Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said all three suspects have been remanded until Jan 5 to facilitate the investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

He added that those arrested in connection with the case include the victim's boyfriend and two other family members, aged between 16 and 51.

Earlier, it was reported that the investigation into the girl's disappearance had been reclassified as murder.

Hussein also said that police believe the decomposed body discovered at RTB Sg Changgang in Banting on Saturday is that of the missing girl.

Hussein, however, said the police are still awaiting the results of the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) analysis to confirm the identity of the victim.
