Body found in car boot, 2 arrested

MERSING: A 28-year-old man was murdered and his body hidden in the boot of his own car at KM26 of Jalan Jemaluang-Kahang at around 1.50pm yesterday.

District police chief Superintendent Abdul Razak Abdullah Sani said the victim was found fully clothed, with injuries to his neck.

He said the motive for the murder was believed to be the victim's alleged relationship with the suspect's ex-wife.

He said police discovered the victim's body in the boot of a Proton Waja car, which was found in bushes by the roadside at the scene.

"Acting on intelligence gathered, a special investigation team arrested a local man and woman suspected of involvement in this case at 4.30am today.

"Both suspects, aged between 33 and 35, have been remanded for seven days from today for further investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

"With these arrests, the case has been solved in under 24 hours," he said when contacted.

He said the suspects had attempted to cover their tracks by making the car appear to have veered off the road into the bushes.

"The body is now at the Sultanah Aminah Hospital's (HSA) forensic unit," he said.

Earlier, a viral video showing a man discovering a vehicle swarmed with flies attracted widespread attention.
