KUALA LUMPUR: Police are searching for a man suspected of recording a video under a woman's skirt at a supermarket in Jenjarom in Selangor.
Kuala Langat district police chief Superintendent Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi said investigations was launched into the case following a Facebook post highlighting the incident, which has garnered public attention.
"On Dec 9, at approximately 10.36am, a woman reported that she noticed a man attempting to record a video of her while she was at a supermarket in Jenjarom.
"The woman, upon reviewing the supermarket's CCTV footage, found that the man had lifted her dress and appeared to be recording underneath it," he said in a statement.
Police have opened an investigation under the Penal Code for intending to insult the modesty of any person, which carries a maximum penalty of five years' imprisonment, a fine, or both upon conviction.
He added that the case is also being investigated under the Minor Offences Act 1955 for insulting behaviour, which carries a fine of up to RM100.
Mohd Akmalrizal said efforts are ongoing to locate the suspect involved in the incident.
He also urged the public to refrain from making any speculations that could disrupt the investigation.
