JOHOR BARU: Johor police seized 114 motorcycles and issued 303 summonses to motorcyclists during a three-day special operation to curb road hooliganism.
The operation, conducted from Dec 6 to 8, is aimed at promoting compliance with traffic regulations among motorcyclists.
Johor police chief Datuk M. Kumar said the summonses were issued for various offences, including failure to wear helmets, riding without valid license and insurance coverage, unauthorised modifications, and improper or missing license plates.
Meanwhile, the motorcycles were seized as the riders failed to provide valid licences, insurance, or vehicle registration numbers and had made illegal modifications to their motorcycles, he said.
Kumar said similar operations will be conducted from time to time, by its Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT).
"We take a zero-tolerance stance on traffic violations to safeguard road users' safety," he said in a statement today.
