Man jailed again for kicking car after recent release for assault

BATU PAHAT: Just recently released from prison for assaulting two supermarket customers, a man was sent back to jail yesterday after pleading guilty to kicking a woman's car in Parit Raja on Sunday (Nov 3).

The accused, Abdullah Zubair Abdullah, 38, had previously been sentenced to one year in jail in July by Magistrate Suhaila Shafi'uddin for striking two women's head at a supermarket in Parit Raja.

On his recent charge, Abdullah, a grass cutter, was accused of damaging a 59-year-old woman's car by kicking the front left door, leaving a dent.

According to the fact sheet, the victim had an encounter with Abdullah while driving through Parit Raja at 5.55pm on Nov 3.

Abdullah allegedly approached her car and kicked the door without provocation, prompting the victim to lodge a report at the Parit Raja police station the same day.

Abdullah faced sentencing under Section 427 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum five-year prison term, a fine, or both for causing mischief.

The prosecution was led by deputy public prosecutor Sharifah Natasha Syed Ahmad, while Abdullah was represented by Tan Song Yan from the National Legal Aid Foundation.

In his previous case, Abdullah had been convicted of injuring two female supermarket customers, aged 22 and 47, by striking their heads without reason. He also has three previous drug-related criminal records including possession of illegal substances.
