KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested two people, aged 35 and 51, in connection with a case where a pig's head was dumped at an eatery.
The arrests followed a video which went viral on social media platform X yesterday.
Closed-circuit television footage showed two people carrying a pig's head into a shop and placing it on a 'roti canai' counter.
Kajang police chief Assistant Commissioner Nazron Abd Yusof said a police report on the incident was lodged on Oct 11 around 7.30 pm.
"The complainant, an 18-year-old man, saw the incident from CCTV footage at his shop in Bandar Teknologi Kajang.
"The footage showed two unidentified individuals wearing black shirts as well as black and red helmets entering the shop.
"They placed a pig's head on the cabinet and roti canai counter belonging to the complainant," he said in a statement.
He said investigations are ongoing to gather evidence.
The case, he said, is being probed under Section 298/ 427 of the Penal Code.
Section 298 relates to insulting a religion while Section 427 concerns acts of mischief that cause loss or damage.
The offences carry a maximum penalty of up to two years' imprisonment, a fine, or both upon conviction.
