KUALA LUMPUR: The chief executive officer (CEO) of Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISB) is among 16 people recently rearrested under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act (Sosma).
Federal Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said 58 GISB members had been detained under Sosma to date.
"This includes the 16 people who were rearrested this afternoon.
"The CEO and other senior management of the company are among those newly detained," he said during a press briefing here today.
It was reported that the CEO had been remanded until Oct 10.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain was quoted saying the individual was among several high-value targets arrested under Op Global, who had their remand orders extended.
The wife of another senior GISB leader was remanded until Oct 5.
They were among 24 members of GISB's top management, who had been held to facilitate investigations under the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007.
Their remand followed a report lodged by a victim in Cheras, who was allegedly exploited by the suspect(s) from GISB.
The company has been under scrutiny following police raids on Sept 11 at 20 welfare homes allegedly operated by the organisation, which led to the rescue of 402 people, a majority of whom are children.
Subsequent screenings revealed that many of them had suffered physical and emotional abuse, with 13 reportedly victims of sexual assault, including sodomy.
GISB has denied all allegations of child exploitation and abuse.
