SHAH ALAM: Religious schools associated with Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISB) and its network in the state will be shut down and their registrations revoked.
Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof said this was part of an integrated action taken in collaboration with the State Religious Department (JAIS), Selangor Mufti Department and the police against GISB and its network.
"MAIS is also ensuring that the Selangor Fatwa Committee makes a prompt decision regarding the results of the investigation and examination of GISB.
"JAIS has already taken serious action in this matter, and it will present related reports to MAIS at its meeting on Sept 24.
"The Selangor Mufti Department will also convene on Sept 30 to decide on matters related to GISBH" he said in a statement today.
He said MAIS and all Islamic affairs agencies in the state would uphold Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah's decree.
He said all Islamic affairs agencies in the state would not compromise with GISB or its network regarding allegations of involvement of Islamic schools in Selangor in criminal offences and the spread of teachings that deviated from Islam.
Sultan Sharafuddin yesterday ordered all unregistered charity homes and Islamic schools in the state, including those under GISB and its network, to be immediately shut down.
In an official statement from Istana Alam Shah in Klang, Sultan Sharafuddin said this was a preventive measure to protect children from further abuse.
He also urged the Selangor Fatwa Committee to review and examine the practices of GISB to determine whether they deviated from or contradicted the true teachings of Islam.
