MUAR: A 14-year-old teen has gone missing after leaving his grandmother's house in Taman Abdul Rahman, Pagoh, for school yesterday morning.
A missing person report was lodged by the boy's father today, after attempts to locate him were futile.
A relative said Muhammad Effzaldanish Mohd Affendi, a form two student at SMK Sultan Alauddin Riayat Shah 1, was last seen when he left the house at 7am yesterday.
He was wearing his secondary school uniform – a white shirt and green pants.
"He is an only child, and his father works in Tampin in Negri Sembilan. He lives with his grandmother," a relative said when contacted, today.
At 9.40am yesterday, his father Mohd Afendi received a call from the school informing him that his son was absent.
"We waited until 2pm hoping he would return, but when he did not return, my cousins went looking for him.
"We started to worry when we could not find him and he did not return as it became dark.
"We alerted the police while his father made his way back to Pagoh.
The relative added the boy was obedient and had never left the house without informing his grandmother, nor had he played truant in the past.
Meanwhile Muar police chief Assistant Commissioner Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz confirmed the boy's father lodged a missing person report this morning, and investigations are underway.
He urged those with information to come forward and contact the nearest police station or Johor police hotline at 07 2212999.
