KUALA LUMPUR: The suspect involved in the abduction of two children in Jeram, Selangor will be charged tomorrow.
Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said investigation papers had been completed today and were referred to the state public prosecutor.
"Instructions have also been received to charge for two offences under Section 363 of the Penal Code, for abducting a child from lawful guardianship.
"(As such), the suspect will be charged tomorrow at the Sungai Besar magistrate's court where if found guilty, he can be punished with a maximum prison sentence of seven years and also fined," he said in a statement.
On Sunday, Kuala Selangor acting police chief Deputy Superintendent Mohd Ambia Nordin said a local man had been arrested in connection with the case.
He said the police had caught the suspect within the Jeram area and he was remanded for five days to assisst in the investigations.
He added that checks revealed the suspect had a prior record of house break-ins.
Last Friday, it was reported that two children were abducted by a man in a dark-coloured Perodua Bezza at Taman Ikan Emas, Jeram.
The two children were abducted while they were playing outside their house.
They were found unhurt about an hour later in an adjacent neighbourhood.
