JOHOR BARU: Police are looking for the driver of a red Perodua Alza who allegedly killed a pedestrian, and fled the scene along the Eastern Dispersal Link Expressway (EDL) here.
Johor Baru Selatan (JBS) district police chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat said the incident occurred at around 4.30am on Sunday near KM0.5 of the expressway.
"We received information that a fatal accident occurred involving a pedestrian and a red Perodua Alza car.
"The victim, a local man in his 30s, suffered severe head injuries and died at the scene," he said in a statement on Sunday.
He said the accident was believed to have occurred while the victim was standing on the left side of the road.
"The car fled the scene immediately after the accident.
"We are now working on tracking down the driver of the vehicle involved," he said, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Department for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
