KUALA LUMPUR: Three Filipino security guards were arrested for possessing fake MyKads during a raid at a business premises in the Puchong area yesterday.
A spokesperson from the National Registration Department (NRD) enforcement division said initial investigations revealed that the trio had obtained the fake MyKad from an agent for a fee of RM250.
"The three security guards aged between 27 and 55 were arrested in the Security Guard Operation after being suspected of using fake identification cards in Puchong," he said in a statement today.
The operation was conducted following two weeks of monitoring and intelligence in the area.
All three suspects, who had no connections to each other, were detained under Regulation 25(1)(e) of the National Registration Regulations 1990.
"One of the suspects will be charged in court, and if convicted, may face imprisonment of up to three years or a fine not exceeding RM20,000, or both.The other two suspects will be handed over to the Immigration Department for further action due to not possessing any travel documents," said the spokesperson.
