KUALA LUMPUR: Actress and model Zahnita Wilson has denied the accusation of her husband, Abdul Zackery Ghouse Abdul Gafor, 47, who claimed to be a victim of domestic violence.
In a news report yesterday, Zahnita or Zahnita Dorothy Hussein Wilson, 40, also admitted that she had pursued the sport of muay thai for self-defense.
"I deny such accusations, I never hit him," she said.
"Yes, I did learn muay thai professionally since 2016, but only for self-defense purposes."
Earlier, Abdul Zackery claimed that Zahnita hit him a few times and denied physically abusing her.
Zahnita previously filed for divorce at the Kuantan Syariah Lower Court on Dec 3 after sharing a picture of her bruised eye on Instagram.
She claimed that the injury was caused by her husband.
Following the report, Abdul Zackery was detained by police and pleaded not guilty to the charge of injuring Zahnita at the Kuantan Magistrate's Court.
Zahnita had also filed for divorce in 2013 at the Shah Alam Syariah Lower Court before withdrawing the case.
Zahnita and Abdul Zackery were married in 2005 and have four children, namely Zahrafeena, 18, Zasharayna Ghouse, 13, Zahlia Syawwal, 8, and Abd Zayden, 4.
In another report yesterday, Abdul Zackery said that he was willing to divorce Zahnita but added that several "conditions" had to be met, in particular joint responsibility in raising their children.
He also claimed that a third party was involved in their marital troubles, and that she "left" him to be with another man for six months in 2015.
Attempts to get Zahnita and Zackery for further comments were unsuccessful.
