ACTOR Jay Iswazir, 42, has never considered cosmetic surgery to remove the scar on his face, which he views as a significant part of his identity and career.
The scar, which Jay got at the age of 5, played a pivotal role in his entry into the entertainment industry.
Recalling his experience during the 'Pilih Kasih' programme, he said, "When I joined the show, Datuk Rosyam Nor noticed me because of this scar.
"A vote was required to qualify for 'Pilih Kasih' and Datuk personally vouched for me, saying I had talent that deserved recognition. Alhamdulillah, his support paved the way for me," he told 'Berita Harian'.
Jay, known for his breakout role in the prank series 'Bang Bang Boom', said he has embraced his scar as a unique feature rather than a flaw.
"Growing up with this scar, I never saw it as a disability. If this had happened four years ago, I might have considered doing something about it.
"But now, Alhamdulillah, I'm at peace with it. It even serves as a personal trademark in terms of 'marketing' — a point of difference that sets me apart."
Jay is currently preparing for his role as Zahiruddin Shah in the theater production of 'Sirih Bertepuk Pinang Menari', written by national laureate Noordin Hassan and directed by Dr. Lenny Erwan.
The play will run on Nov 29 and 30 at Auditorium Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP), Kuala Lumpur.
