KUALA LUMPUR: Journalist and TV3 news presenter, Siti Khadijah Jaafar, 39, married fellow news presenter from RTM, Otto Othman, 40, at a ceremony in Zoo Negara in Ulu Klang, Selangor today.
The lively celebration saw the bridal couple making an entrance to the Kancil Hall accompanied by 10 storks serving as "flower girls" in the presence of approximately 300 guests.
According to a TV3 news report, Siti Khadijah said that she and her husband decided on Zoo Negara as the location for their special day since they were both animal lovers.
"I really like animals, and so does my husband. Every time he has the opportunity after work he will look for several locations to feed stray cats.
"What's even sweeter is that in this hall there are some tame animals, such as geese, chickens, turtles, pythons, rabbits, and parrots, available for guests to take pictures with," she said.
The various animals were housed in the mini zoo room in conjunction with the event.
Another memorable aspect of the wedding was the Habib Jewels-sponsored jewelry set, encrusted with diamonds and gemstones worth RM2.89 million, to accentuate the couple's three bridal costumes.
Meanwhile, Zoo Negara deputy president, Datuk Rosly@Rahmat Ahmat Lana, was very excited about the event since it was the first wedding ceremony at the location.
"We can also indirectly promote Zoo Negara and increase the number of visitors coming here," he said.
Among the guests present were Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain and wife, Deputy Inspector General of Police Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay and wife, and Zoo Negara president Datuk Sr Zaharin Md Arif.
Other guests included Media Prima Group chairman of the Media Prima Group Datuk Seri Dr Syed Hussain Aljunid and Media Prima TV Networks and Primeworks Studios CEO Nini Yusof, as well as the senior management of News and Current Affairs for TV3.
