KUALA LUMPUR: Persatuan Karyawan Malaysia (Karyawan) president Datuk Freddie Fernandez has revealed that more than 50 artistes are facing financial hardship today.
He said in a Harian Metro report yesterday that they were mostly veterans who suffered from illness or infirmity and did not receive acting or singing offers."Karyawan has been doing its best to help them by organising dinner shows to raise funds for them from time to time," he said.
"However our Tabung Karyawan only has RM100,000 which is just not enough.
"We hope that more non-governmental organisations can donate to our fund for the sake of needy veteran artistes."
