KUALA LUMPUR: Veteran singer Jay Jay, 66, is in stable condition and recuperating at the National Heart Institute (IJN) in Jalan Tun Razak here following surgery yesterday.
Jay Jay's wife Zaitoon Wahib said in a Harian Metro report yesterday that the 66-year-old singer underwent six hours of surgery beginning 12.55pm.
"He is now resting at the Intensive Care Unit and doctors will be monitoring him over the next 12 hours," she said.
Zaitoon also said that he was still unconscious and the doctors have promised to keep the family updated on his condition.
"It came as a shock to all of us. He hadn't suffered from any serious illnesses before this."
It was reported yesterday that nasyid singer Cheb Ali and his wife, singer Azura Aziz visited Jay Jay at IJN and said on TikTok that he would be undergoing a coronary bypass.
Jay Jay or Mohamad Fauzi Darus suffered a mild heart attack while on a bus ride from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur recently.
