KUALA LUMPUR: Profit-taking in construction stocks pushed the Bursa Malaysia Construction Index down 3.2 per cent in the morning session.
The benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI in comparison was down 0.4 per cent today.
KLCI constituent Gamuda Bhd saw the most decline, with the stock falling 4.05 per cent to RM4.98, while Ekovest Bhd was down 2.74 per cent to 35.5 sen and WCT Holdings Bhd 3.09 per cent to 94 sen a share.
Property developer and engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning company TXCD Bhd was the among the bright spots on the index, gaining 4.17 per cent to 12.5 sen a share.
The construction index has been a standout performer for the last one year, up 55.64 per cent, thanks to a record-breaking RM199 billion construction spending in 2024.
