KUALA LUMPUR: A Rolls-Royce spokesperson said Malaysia Airlines' newly delivered A330neo has a faulty component and replacement of the component is currently in progress.
"We're working closely with Malaysia Airlines to resolve the technical issues; our initial troubleshooting has identified a faulty component, and replacement of that part is in progress," it said in a statement on Sunday.
Malaysia Airlines Group, the parent of Malaysia Airlines, unveiled its new widebody aircraft, the A330neo, powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engine, with much fanfare on Dec 19, 2024.
Days later however it had to ground the aircraft due to technical issues.
Business Times on Sunday reported that Malaysia Airlines had to ground the brand-new Airbus A330neo for at least 48 hours after it identified three technical issues, which it attributed to poor quality of work from the factory.
An Airbus spokesperson said that the company is ready to support Malaysia Airlines with the technical issues around their new aircraft.
