Bursa Malaysia closes midday possitive on gains in financial services, plantations

KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia remained in positive territory at midday, supported by gains in the financial services and plantation sectors.

As of 12:30 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) increased by 4.93 points, or 0.30 per cent, to 1,637.56, compared to Wednesday's close of 1,632.63.

The overall market sentiment was positive, with 528 gainers surpassing 314 losers.

Malacca Securities Sdn Bhd noted that as the US dollar continues to strengthen against the ringgit, traders are likely to turn their attention to export-driven sectors such as gloves and technology.

"Additionally, investors may want to consider sectors expected to benefit from Budget 2025, such as construction, property, building materials, and utilities."

"We also see potential in selected plantation, oil and gas (O&G), and finance stocks offering attractive dividend yields," it added.
