KUALA LUMPUR: Maxis Bhd today announced that Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir has decided to step down as its chairman effective from June 30.
Mokhzani served as a director of Maxis since its listing on Bursa Malaysia in 2009 and chairman since April 22 2021.
"It has been a privilege and honour to serve on the board of Maxis, and as chairman over the past years.
"I am truly proud of what we have achieved as a leading integrated telco provider. During my tenure, we have had to adapt to rapid technological advancements and economic transformation," he said in a statement today.
Despite the many challenges, Mokhzani said Maxis had continued to diligently serve the evolving needs of its customers and all stakeholders in an increasingly connected world.
The Maxis board is assessing potential candidates and expects to complete the process and make an announcement on the new chairman at the appropriate time.
Meanwhile, Maxis appointed independent director Datuk Hamidah Naziadin as interim chairman effective July 1.
Maxis said Hamidah, who was appointed as a director of in 2014, is an experienced and well-respected humar resource leader in Corporate Malaysia.
